What Are You For?
“I will never attend an anti-war rally; if you have a peace rally, invite me.” - Mother Teresa
In my family we have different races, different religions, different sexualities varying disabilities and differing personalities. I imagine that your family looks a lot like mine.
As parents we strive for our children to have a happy home, healthy food, solid education, everything they need and some of what they want. I bet in your home you want the same.
As a breathing being I want to feel safe, respected, and valued - with the opportunities to become the person I was meant to be. I believe this is your desire too.
We have heard a lot over the past weeks. Mostly what people are afraid of, tired of, not going to be a part of. And in their response I see fear - but not who they are. I believe there is more.
Fighting against - builds resistance.
Fighting against - exaggerates our differences.
Fighting against - builds walls.
Fighting against - creates wars.
So, instead. Tell me…
What are you FOR?
Who will you stand FOR?
What will you speak up FOR?
What you are willing to work FOR?
There is a subtle but potent shift in this question that directs you into the seat of your power and opens you up to the heart of another.
- Do not fight against hatred. Be FOR the power of love.
- Do not fight against discrimination. Stand FOR the value of your brother.
- Do not fight against injustice . Speak FOR the equality of your sister.
- Do not fight against inequality. Work FOR the freedom for all.
My Darlings, tell us what you are FOR and I will tell you how we conquer the great divide.
